As she slowly moved through the crowded streets of Hogsmead, Alora scanned the rows of shops for a quiet, peaceful place she could go to get away from the noisy crowds. The streets were packed, and people could barely get in and out of the shops. And the noise. The noise was dreadful. Little children screaming and shouting and constant shouts of 'Can I have this?' or 'I want that!' or 'Buy this for me!'. She had ignored it for a while, but now it was really annoying her.
As she moved further along the streets, she saw quite a few pubs and cafes, but every single one was packed. Then she saw it. A small, half-empty place with what seemed like rainbow colored blobs falling from the ceiling. Alora glanced at the name 'Madam Puddifoot's' in fancy writing on the building and frowned. It sounded so.. girly. She sighed. It was either this or the crowds.
She entered the shop, and then noticed that nearly of the people in there were couples. For a few seconds she just blinked and stared, but then she went over to an empty table and sat down. She looked around the small tea shop. It was very girly. The tabled were covered in confetti, in several different shades of pink, with a few blue and yellow ones here and there, that were the 'rainbow colored blobs' falling from the ceiling.
Frowning, Alora looked to the table directly to her right. A couple sat there, holding hands and gazing into each others' eyes. Scowling, Alora decided to glare at the small bowl of sugar on her table. All the happy couples in the shop made her feel unwelcome. So it didn't look like she was doing nothing, she pulled a random book from her bag and started to read it.
It just happened to be the book about Quidditch that her father had brought for her fourteenth birthday. Alora wasn't that interested in Quidditch, but after finding the book stuffed under her bed about six months after she had received it, she had read it several times. There wasn't really much else to do anyway. Alora sighed and shut the book, and began to gaze out of the window at all the people passing the shop.
