It had been at least a month since Cassie had come back home. It was akward for her to be in the same room and bed again with her husband. The time was about 2 in the morning. Cassie had been waking up at that time most of the mornings she had been there. Nightmares haunting her dreams seeing strange things.
Always waking up in a cold sweat. She put on a black silk robe then walked down the stairs. Soon she was in the kitchen and made up a cup of coffee. French vanilla was her favorite. Her eyes looked out the window saw the stars out still. She walked over to the window and smiled. "I wonder...if i'll be able to stay here. I know.." She stopped and just looked out the window. She was sad that she had hurt so many with her leaveing.
Soon she went out into the living room and laid down. Sometimes she would just lay down here for hours until Jace would wake up. And even then there would be a silence that could kill someone. It hurt her to see him like that but at the same time it was good to even see him at all. Remembering their younger years when they were in school together. First meeting and her falling for him.
Never knowing how he felt for her until she felt like she would never see him again. "Those were the day.." She whispeared then just stared up at the ceiling.

Jacey woke with a start. Rubbing the back of his palm against his misty eyes Jacey tried to figure out what had woken him up. Was it Taylor? Was she awake? What time was it anyways? Turning to look at the bedside clock, Jacey noticed it was not even 2 yet. Sitting up, Jacey flipped on the bedside light. Looking at the spot behind him, Jacey frowned. Where was Cassie. She had been there a few hours ago. Where could she have possibly gone? Struck by the same fear as he had felt many years ago, Jacey sprang out of bed. She wouldn't have left again would she? Quickly, Jacey checked the rest of the room just to make sure she wasn't in the bathroom or anything like that.
"Cassie?" Jacey called out but there was no answer.
Not being able to find Cass in the bedroom, Jacey headed for the stairs. He stopped at Taylors room quietly opening the door to check weather or not Cass was in there with their little girl. She wasn't. Panic stricken, Jacey checked every room on the top floor. He couldn't lose Cassie again. He just couldn't. Did she not realize how much pain it caused him every time she ran away like this? Apparently not. Making his way down the stairs, Jacey noticed a faint light shinning from the living room. Calming down a bit, Jacey was relieved to know that Cassie hadn't left the house. Like always, Jacey was wearing his paid pajama pants with no top. His shaggy light brown hair was a mess. He figured it was probably sticking up all over the place. But he didn't care. He was just happy to know that Cassie hadn't left him again.
"Those were the day.."
Jacey heard these soft words as he silently made his way into the living room. From where he stood, Jacey could see Cassie lying on the couch. "What were the good days?" Jacey asked as he ran a hand through his hair in an attempt to fix it. Silently he made his way over to the couch and knelt down on the hardwood next to where Cassie was.

Thinking about when she was younger made her happy. And for some reason it made her sad because that's when things were better. Things were simple for her and Jace. She didn't do as many stupid things as she did now a days. Starting to curl up on the couch just thinking about such sad thoughts made her eyes well up. What was wrong with her? What had happened to the girl that was stronger in her younger years? She didn't know and it pissed her off and scared her.
As a small tear left her eye she heard a voice that made her jump almost off the couch. She looked to see Jacey. She held her heart feeling how fast it was racing. I must of woken him up.. She thought.
"Oh just thinking about school years." She said looking at the floor. "Remembering all those stupid people that tried to go against us..fools." Cassie said her eyes meeting with his. It was one of the first times she woke Jacey up from sleeping when she would do this. "I'm sorry for waking you hun. Just didn't sleep well.." Her voice trailed off in the large house. Her dark eyes just looked about for a while then back at him.
"Go back to bed i'll be back in a few." Her voice was so soft now a days towards many people. She didn't know why but she felt like being soft now. After everything she had done to him it was hard to live sometimes. But she knew she could for him and her child. "Or....or do you want a cup of coffee?" She asked.

Jacey noticed the tear that was rolling down her cheek. Gently he reached out and used his thumb to whip it away. Leaving his hand there, Jacey looked into her dark eyes. God she was beautiful. Every time he looked at her it seemed as though he fell in love with her all over again. As Cassie told him she was thinking about their school years, Jacey couldn't help but give a small bark of laugh. Yes he did remember all the times that other students would challenge their strength, and thought they were stronger. "Do you remember the time Kirsten nearly killed that first year in Gryffindor. The cocky little thing thought he could challenge a seventh year. Man she had to be the worst of us all." Jacey smiled slightly remembering everything.
"It's ok," Jacey said as Cassie apologized for waking him. "I wasn't doing anything anyways." He smiled down at her as he stood up. Moving Cassie slightly, Jacey sat down next to her on the couch and gently pulled her back against him so she was leaning against him. Gently he stroked her soft hair. "No, I'm awake now," Jacey said placing a kiss on the top of her head. "And no thanks to the cup of coffee or Tea," Jacey said softly as he wrapped his arms tightly around Cassie so she wouldn't get up and go to the kitchen. All he really wanted was this. For them to sit together, and just be.
Closing his eyes, Jacey took a few deep breaths. "So why don't you tell me what's on your mind Cass," he said softly next to her ear. You would have had to be clueless to everything going on to notice that Cassie wasn't the same girl she used to be. And frankly neither she or Jacey'd had the chance to really talk since she got home.

Cassie smiled when his hand touched her cheek. It made her flare up a bit when he did. Then she moved over to the side a bit then smiled leaning on him. "Oh those stupid Gryffindor..god and remember those Ravenclaw kids that thought they could take me on. I taught them a lesson it was so funny." She laughed a bit. "Are you sure you don't want anything..ok.." She said looking around once again.
It was nice to feel the warmth of his arms around her again. It was like she was in heaven even for a small amount of time..it didn't matter to her. And to feel his lips touch just her forehead made her blush even more. Then she sat up a bit and looked at him hearing what he had to say. "So why don't you tell me what's on your mind Cass,"[/b] For a moment she didn't know what to say and she just looked at the ground letting her hair cover her face.
"I..I just always have this strange feeling here now. Because I was gone for such a long time away from you. That I feel i'll always let you down because of that. We haven't talked a lot since i've gotten back here a month ago. I feel like trust will always be an issue now.." She said her voice shaking. She wasn't gonna cry or anything but it would always shook her up. Her hands were shaking in her lap then she looked back up at her through her black hair.
Then she smiled a bit. "I just wanna be good to you and our little girl. I don't wanna let you down anymore..I love you so much and I didn't mean to hurt you so badly. Your the most important thing to me and I feel like i'm losing you.." She said then leaning her head back on his shoulder.[/color]
