Hermione walked around her house, pacing back and forth in a need to jump and and down for a while, but for some reason she had no clue what or why she was acting so happy. She basically shrugged it off and decided that London really wasn't the place that she wanted to be at the moment. She wanted to go to someplace big, some place new, some place that didn't look the same to her everyday. She had walked these streets a million times, she had gone to each shop at least a hundred times in all the years that she lived here, and it seemed completely unsatisfying. The streets would not change, no matter how long she was gone, and she deserved a little vacation of her own. No worries. No children. Just herself and someplace entirely unexplored yet.
She packed a mere bag and decided that she'd rather enjoy a trip the right way and not bother with using magic all the time. She would use it, however, because she was so used to using it year after year that it would be hard to randomly give it up, but she wanted to cut down her habits. She loved the wizarding world and its secrets so much that it made her crazy with desire to know it all. Obviously no one can know everything in the world, correct? Even though Hermione learned and knew so much, she still wanted to know more. She wanted to know why muggles didn't believe in magic, or why they couldn't really know about it. She had been told excuses for why they couldn't know, but she never believed a single one. She had her own thoughts towards it.
The house was quiet and almost empty by the time she had started getting ready to leave. Her owl was sweetly slumbering it her cage as Hermione quietly packed her things. Her husband, Ronald, was eating downstairs, like always, when she had sprung the most exciting news upon him. She had gotten a letter saying that she was to be the new Headmistress at Hogwarts. He was thrilled of course, but she was just about as scared as she was excited. She knew, though, that she could do it, for that was what she always wanted to do. Ron had been the one to spring the idea of a vacation in her head, she offered him to come along, but he declined. He had work at the Ministry that desperately needed attending to and that he would wait for her arrival home within a week or two.
The best thing was having support from her family that encouraged her to be the best person she could be, and she had never been doubted by any of them. She loved her life at home, but she needed to spread her wings to fly into someplace new. So, with a kiss on the cheek for her husband and children, she was whisked away by simply apparating and found herself in a new place. She had chosen France. She appeared in a back alley, walking out into the town where a large tower blocked the brilliant sky. She took a deep breath, wanting to see the world from above. She walked the stairs, each step in anticipation as she reached the top balcony.
"I can't believe I waited this long to do this." She said happily. "Now I understand why people love this place so much. Something tells me that nothing will go wrong today."
